What does it take to lead in one of the world’s fastest-evolving industries? In a recent interview published by SiGMA, I shared my thoughts on long-term strategy, public market leadership, the role of M&A, and why regulation must evolve in step with innovation.
Strategy: Vision Meets Execution
Success in gaming—and in tech more broadly—isn’t just about visionary ideas. It’s about executing those ideas consistently, day after day, in an environment that never stops moving. Strategy isn’t what you put in a presentation deck—it’s how you lead through change, make difficult decisions, and stay aligned with long-term goals.
Public Markets and Leadership Under Pressure
Running a public company comes with immense responsibility and scrutiny. In the article, I reflect on how navigating quarterly expectations while building long-term value requires calm leadership, transparency, and the ability to maintain focus under pressure.
Growth Through M&A
Mergers and acquisitions can be powerful tools for growth—when done right. I talk about the importance of aligning culture, ensuring strategic fit, and being thoughtful in choosing which companies to integrate. Acquisitions that enhance capability, brand, or geographic reach can unlock new levels of scale and innovation.
Regulation vs. Innovation
Gaming is one of the most heavily regulated digital industries—and for good reason. But overly rigid laws can stifle innovation and push players toward unregulated markets. In the U.S., we’re seeing active tension between emerging technologies (like prediction markets and sweepstakes) and outdated legal frameworks.
As I say in the article:
"You cannot legislate for something that hasn’t been invented yet."
A balanced, forward-looking approach to regulation is essential—one that protects consumers but also allows new, legitimate innovations to thrive.
